In 1926, Hart Swalstead moved his family and jewelry store from Minott, North Dakota to Orlando. Swalstead Jewelers has always been a family store and continues in that tradition. The store was an early member of The American Gem Society and is now owned by Jack Leavitt and his son Elliott . Once an employee, Jack was offered an opportunity to continue in the family tradition when he acquired the business in 1972. Jack and Elliott are Certified Gemologists of The American Gem Society.

Swalstead Jewelers is dedicated to Quality and Integrity. Membership in The American Gem Society, The Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce and The Better Business Bureau speak volumes about our knowledge, sincerity and fairness. We have an Accredited Gem Laboratory. All Items purchased for inventory are checked for manufacturing quality and correct grades on all stones as well as design.

Services

Custom Jewelry Design.. Designs can be created in 14k, 18k, or platinum. A drawing will be submitted to you for your approval before manufacturing.

Watch Repair.............. We repair all brands of watches and can supply and install batteries for quartz watches. Worn-out mechanical movements may be replaced with quartz movements. All watch repairs are guaranteed for one year.

Jewelry Repair............. Your gold and platinum jewelry is repaired using only 10, 14, or 18kt and platinum materials. We size rings, tighten stones, supply safety chains, apply ring guards, and etc. Some minor repairs can be done while you wait. Pearl and bead restringing is expertly done in the store. Hand engraving can make your jewelry into an heirloom.

Appraisals................ Your jewelry may be appraised in our fully-equipped American Gem Society Accredited Gem Laboratory. You will receive an estimate before work is performed. Identification of gemstones can be performed while you wait and usually at no charge. We issue receipts for all jewelry left with us and those items are insured while in our custody.

Estate Department

This department can be of assistance in helping you decide the disposition of your fine jewelry. You may sell or place your jewelry on consignment in this department. Many of the pieces in this department can be purchased substantially below replacement costs.
